It seems like no matter what your hobby or interest is, there’s a festival for it, and southern Texas has some of the most entertaining ones. This summer, take your family to a memorable outdoor festival such as:
- Watermelon Thump (June 23-26): From auctions to eating contests, this festival has been celebrating this juicy, refreshing fruit for half a century. Check out the music and activities while you enjoy a slice.
- Keep Austin Weird Fest (June 25): There’s no other festival like this in the state! Show your wild side and let loose by dressing up in a wacky outfit and participating in the 5K. Or, just wander around and make new friends.
- Great Texas Mosquito Festival (July 28-30): Head to Clute, Texas, at the end of July to celebrate a most unusual subject. In addition to a 26-foot tall Texas mosquito named Willie-Man-Chew, there are craft booths, a carnival, live entertainment, and food.
There are many more South Texas summer festivals coming up, so check online for more ideas.
